My last assignment for my pen-and-ink class was to make something inspired by a dream. I chose a dream that I had in which I had to care for parrots made from bananas. The design of these two creatures was influenced by my real-life pet parrots, Calvin and Nugget.

My original vision for the piece was to have one banana bird making a mess in a kitchen. After doing a few digital concept sketches, I came up with the idea of having a mother-child pair. The baby is my personal favorite part of this illustration!
